Bump-Out Home Additions in San Francisco
Bump-out additions are a unique, cost-effective option for upgrading your home or existing garage. If you have yard limitations to consider, bump-outs can be designed with that in mind while providing you with the extra indoor space you desire.
Homeowners in the San Francisco area choose bump-outs for a variety of reasons: walk-in closets, kitchen nooks, bathtubs, sun porches, or window seats in a family room. Our Design-Build team will meet with you to go over your vision and determine the best solution for your space.
It is our goal to provide you with excellent service and workmanship. We handle everything from permits and paperwork with the local building agencies to design and construction of a space you will enjoy for years to come. Read below to learn if the bump-out addition is right for you.
The Benefits of Creating a Bump-Out Addition
The benefits of adding a bump-out are many. For starters, you can build just enough space for what you need. In addition, it is an attractive option and can be designed to flow seamlessly into an existing structure. Another, less discussed benefit, is that bump-outs can provide additional indoor square footage without taking away valuable outdoor space. And last, but not least, bump-out additions typically cost less than a full-scale addition.
Our team will take into consideration your landscaping and yard design and work around mature trees as not to disturb your tree canopy. As always, we will offer our professional advice on the type of bump-out that would be well-suited to accommodate your unique home and vision.

Bump-Out Addition Options
There are a variety of bump-out options and ideas to consider. If you are looking to add square footage to your kitchen, for instance, a 3–4-foot bump-out might be all you need. That may not sound like a lot, but if your kitchen is 12 feet wide, you would be adding 36-48 square feet. This extra space could be used for a kitchen island, additional counter or storage space, or pantry.
In a bedroom a bump-out addition would allow extra space for an office, comfortable sitting area, or a walk-in closet. In a bathroom, you could add a sink, tub, or extra counterspace.
Bump-outs can also be added to an existing garage or to the back of your home to create a beautiful, covered porch area. At Spaces Home Remodeling, we look forward to bringing your vision to life.
Cost to Build a Bump-Out Addition
While bump-out additions tend to be less expensive than a full addition, the costs can vary depending on the complexity of the project. If we build a bump-out that involves considerable plumbing, electrical, and foundation work, this will be more expensive than an addition that is used simply for storage.
Our approach involves a cost-benefit analysis and concept design that matches your style and meets your needs. Bump-out additions are creative options and Spaces Home Remodeling takes pride in building additions that our homeowners are proud of and get to enjoy for years to come.

How do we communicate with our customers during the bump-out addition process?
During the renovation process your project manager, the home remodeling team, and builders who are involved in the remodel, will be 100% available to you.
After signing the work contract, your project manager will open a group messaging system which includes you, our office and any team members related to your project. You can use this platform to ask questions and request updates. In addition, your project manager will visit the property on a daily basis.
Our home remodeling team will arrive at the property every morning Monday- Friday (if that fits your schedule), in order to meet the project deadline.
Our main goal is for you to be happy with our work and your new home.
Can you also create the design for the bump-out addition?
Yes. We are a full service Design-Build contractor, meaning we take you from concept to completion including architectural design, interior design, structural engineering, building permit acquisition, and of course construction.
Will a bump-out addition add value to my home?
The ROI for additions is quite high when compared to most other renovations because you are adding actual square footage to the home. Depending on the type of addition you build, some actually create an ROI higher than the investment itself. Design plays a big factor in this and should never be overlooked!
